Laboratory aluminum heating & cooling blocks

Reusable aluminum blocks for keeping tubes organized while transferring heat or cold around samples and reagents. Choose dedicated 1.5/2.0 mL formats, mixed PCR-and-tube layouts or high-density PCR blocks.

Compare formats

Match the block to the tubes you actually use.

The useful differences are tube diameter, number of positions and whether the run uses one tube format or several. Current blocks are rated for −80 to 100 °C unless the individual product page states otherwise.

Why aluminum?

A dry, reusable thermal mass around the tubes.

Aluminum transfers heat efficiently and lets samples sit in defined positions instead of loose in an ice bucket or warm-water container. A pre-cooled or pre-warmed block can keep a batch organized while samples or reagents are handled on the bench.

These are general laboratory heating/cooling blocks, not instrument-specific dry-bath inserts unless an individual product page explicitly states compatibility with a particular instrument.

Which format?

Start with tube geometry, then capacity.

If the workflow is mainly 1.5/2.0 mL tubes, the 15- and 24-position blocks are the simplest options. Mixed-format blocks are useful when PCR tubes and larger tubes need to stay together through the same workflow.

For PCR-heavy work, the 96 + 10 and 384-position blocks reduce the need to split samples across several smaller blocks.
