Magnetic bead separation racks for PCR tubes

Compare magnetic racks for standard 0.2 mL PCR tubes and 8-tube strips. Options cover 16- and 32-sample formats and working volumes from 5 to 200 µL for PCR cleanup, NGS library preparation, CUT&RUN, CUT&Tag and other bead-based purification workflows.

Choose the rack around sample count and working volume.

All options below hold standard PCR tubes or strips close to permanent magnets for manual bead separation. The main differences are capacity, material and whether the rack is optimized around one broad volume range or two magnet heights.

What does the rack do?

Hold PCR tubes against a magnetic field while beads collect.

Magnetic bead separation racks bring paramagnetic beads to the tube wall so the liquid phase can be removed or exchanged without transferring the tube to another vessel. They are commonly used in nucleic-acid cleanup, size selection, immunoprecipitation and other workflows built around magnetic beads.

For PCR-tube workflows, the practical questions are tube compatibility, sample volume, sample count and pipette access—not simply magnet strength.

16 or 32 samples?

Scale throughput without automatically moving into a plate.

A 16-position rack suits smaller batches and two 8-tube strips. A 32-position rack can handle four 8-tube strips or 32 individual tubes while keeping each tube visible and individually accessible.

If the workflow routinely switches between very low and higher volumes, the two-height rack gives separate magnet positions for those ranges.
